Help shape the future of the Ouseburn Valley

Proposed Ouseburn Neighbourhood Area

Proposed Ouseburn Neighbourhood Area

How can you help shape Ouseburn’s future?

We want to bring people together to create a vision for the Lower Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle upon Tyne, through a Neighbourhood Plan.

What is Neighbourhood Planning?

People who live and work in Ouseburn can form a Neighbourhood Forum and agree a Neighbourhood Area under the Localism Act 2011. They can then prepare a Neighbourhood Plan, with help from others including Newcastle City Council. When this Plan passes a referendum, it becomes part of the statutory planning process. You  cannot block development but can say what type of development is best where.

Why should I get involved?

It will give you more say on where you would like new homes, shops, offices and facilities to be built.

You can help to build a stronger community.

You can create a place that works well for all ages.

You can contribute to protecting and improving key green spaces in the valley.

Ouseburn will be a more attractive place to live, work and visit.

How do I get involved?

Fill in our very short questionnaire by midnight on 31st January 2014.

You can join the Neighbourhood Forum for free. Although only those who work or live in the Neighbourhood Area (along with local councillors) can vote, anyone is welcome to join.

Come to our Open Meeting and Annual General Meeting at Ouseburn Farm on Tuesday 28th January 2014 at 6.00pm.
